‘I’m finally back’ – Bentancur sends emotional message to Tottenham fans

Rodrigo Bentancur revealed on social media how challenging his recuperation journey had been and how happy he was to be playing football again.

After suffering an ACL injury against Leicester City in February, Bentancur was one of Tottenham’s most reliable players during his first year at the North London club. The Uruguayan was a major loss for the team in the latter few months of the previous campaign.

The 26-year-old has been back in training for the past few weeks, but according to a rumor from a few days ago, he won’t be playing again until November (The Standard).

Bentancur surprised everyone by being left off the starting lineup for Tottenham’s match against Crystal Palace. He entered the game in the ninetieth minute and helped the away team win 2-1.

Following the final whistle, there was a heartfelt moment as the midfield player’s teammates urged him forward to receive the awards from the visiting spectators at Selhurst Park.

Bentancur expressed his gratitude to his supporters on Instagram during the past eight months and that he was looking forward to playing football once more.

Following his return, Bentancur also sent the following video message for Spurs supporters:

Postecoglou can afford to ease Bentancur into the proceedings, as he will probably need a few weeks or possibly a month or two to get back to his best, especially considering how well Sarr and Bissouma are performing right now. Without a doubt, if the Uruguayan can reach his pre-injury levels, he will significantly enhance the team.
