‘Logical’: Postecoglou says Tottenham have a ‘ready-made’ replacement for ‘outstanding’ ace

In Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur has a “ready-made replacement” for the suspended Yves Bissouma when they play Fulham on Monday.

Spurs host the Cottagers after the break in the hopes of maintaining their unblemished start to the year.Tottenham has won six of its first eight Premier League games this season, giving Postecoglou a great start to his time in north London.

In addition, Postecoglou has watched his team score 18 goals while giving up just eight, with Bissouma playing a crucial role for Tottenham. Only eight Spurs players have started each of their first eight games, including the 27-year-old. However, he will not play against Fulham on Monday due to a red card.

Tottenham star Bissouma drew a mindless suspension at Luton

In Tottenham’s penultimate Premier League match before the break at Luton Town, Bissouma received two yellow cards. After diving while on a caution, the 29-cap Mali midfielder willfully tempted referee John Brooks to reach for his red card. He also received both yellow cards in just 11 minutes.

Initially, Brooks had warned Bissouma for bringing Chiedozie Ogbene to the ground in the 38th. In the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time, the Tottenham anchor nonetheless made a try to trick the referee by diving on the edge of the Luton box. Spurs fought hard and prevailed 1-0.

If Bissouma had received the first caution, he would not have been able to play in Tottenham’s match against Fulham after reaching five for the year. However, the red card outweighs his fifth caution, and when the £35 million former Brighton star returns at Tottenham, he will once more be one caution away from a suspension.

Postecoglou sees Hojbjerg as his ‘logical’ Bissouma replacement

Postecoglou thinks Tottenham has a few options for Bissouma to be replaced against Fulham at home. However, the Australian sees Hojbjerg as his “natural” choice to succeed the 5’11” ace Chris Waddle praises for being “excellent.” Even if he hasn’t used the 28-year-old much this term.

Postecoglou was quoted by football.london as saying, “We had to adjust without him at Luton, which I thought we did awfully well with 10 men.” We have various possibilities, and Pierre is undoubtedly a suitable successor. He has been working out quite hard.

“He’s very much been a constant for the previous two, three years, so he’s definitely wanted to be playing more. But when he has played for us, he has performed admirably. He seems to me to be the one who should come in, but we still have a few sessions left.

For his first Premier League start under Postecoglou at Tottenham, Hojbjerg will likely replace Bissouma against Fulham. The only game the Dane started in was Spurs’ Carabao Cup loss to the Cottagers. He has filled in for 122 minutes in the league.
