Report: Tottenham have just requested permission from club to hold talks with their 24-year-old ‘wizard’
According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur has asked Galatasaray for authorization to speak with Kerem Akturkoglu about a potential transfer in 2024.
Over the past few months, a number of elite clubs have been linked with the brilliant 24-year-old attacker. A transfer in one of the upcoming two transfer windows appears likely, and if Aksam is to be believed, Tottenham are now the most interested party.
Tottenham seek permission to hold transfer talks with Kerem Akturkoglu
Tottenham has joined the competition for Kerem Akturkoglu with a number of English teams.
It was only disclosed last week that Arsenal is interested in signing the gifted Turk. According to the latest Aksam report, Liverpool and Manchester United are also keeping an eye on things.
However, Tottenham appears to be the team most motivated to sign Akturkoglu.
According to the publication, Spurs have started talking to Galatasaray and have even asked for their permission to speak with the player directly.
Akturkoglu has five goals and seven assists to his name this season in just 16 appearances for Galatasaray, where he primarily plays on the left wing.
But because he still has two and a half years left on his contract, Galatasaray is in a reasonably advantageous position when attempting to trade him.
Do Spurs even need him?
Tottenham currently has several of options for their offense.
Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil, Manor Solomon, and Ivan Perisic are more than enough alternatives for Ange Postecoglou’s assault. Perisic and Gil may depart, but Richarlison and Son are primarily deployed through the middle, so there is a good possibility they won’t.
That makes it possible for someone like Akturkoglu to enter the picture, and if the rumors are to be believed, Spurs are taking their pursuit of the Turk very seriously.
It will be intriguing to watch where Akturkoglu, who has been dubbed a “wizard” for both his skill on the field and his love of Harry Potter, ends up. He appears to be headed out of Galatasaray in a significant way next year.
