Report: West Ham United want ‘special’ £25m player, but he really fancies joining Spurs instead
Jota, a winger for Al Ittihad, is reportedly more interested in joining Tottenham Hotspur than joining west ham united in the Premier League.
Everton, Fulham, West Ham United, Brentford, and Crystal Palace are all keeping an eye on Jota’s status at Al Ittihad.
This is per 90Min, who assert that Jota might be transferred during the January transfer window.
Jota only moved from Celtic to Al Ittihad in July for £25 million, but he is already no longer needed in Saudi Arabia.
In order to return to Europe, Jota now wants to renegotiate his contract and quit Al Ittihad for good.
Although the Portuguese wide player wouldn’t be eligible to play until January, it would make sense to join a new team and be ready for the second half of the season.
Premier League interest in Jota as Tottenham links continue
Jota won’t lack for suitors if he decides to leave Al Ittihad, whether that is now or in January.
According to rumors, Jota would be interested in playing for Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United in England.
However, there is a clear connection to Tottenham Hotspur, and Spurs are rumored to be interested as well.
Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, and Jota were teammates at Celtic, and their possible reunion in North London may be made possible by the Saudi Arabian scenario.
According to reports, Jota ‘would ultimately love’ to join Tottenham and reunite with Postecoglou, giving Spurs an advantage over their Premier League opponents.
Tottenham may well need another winger in January
Jota would undoubtedly be thrilled to collaborate with Postecoglou once more after the Australian referred to him as a “special player” during their time in Glasgow.
Under Postecoglou, the 24-year-old piled up 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 appearances and eventually established himself as a star to land the job in Saudi Arabia.
Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon have both suffered injuries for Tottenham this season, and Son Heung-min is playing as a striker.
As a result, there might be opening in January for another winger, especially if Perisic decides to go for Hajduk Split.
Jota might be the perfect fit for Spurs considering his capacity for magic and his familiarity with Postecoglou’s fashion.
