Tensions rose during Saturday night’s matchup between No. 7 North Carolina and No. 9 Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in the season’s final game. College basketball enthusiasts took to social media to share their reactions, with one particularly contentious incident occurring at the six-minute mark of the first half.
Following Duke’s recovery of a loose ball and their transition into offense, Blue Devils center Kyle Filipowski and UNC forward Harrison Ingram became entangled, resulting in both players falling to the court.
Ingram quickly regained his footing and raced back to defend, while Filipowski, still grounded, seemingly extended his leg in an apparent attempt to trip Ingram deliberately. Filipowski then feigned injury, trying to downplay the incident.
The Tar Heels secured an 84–79 victory, securing the ACC regular-season title outright. During their celebration in front of the Blue Devils’ student section, known as the Cameron Crazies, drinks were thrown at UNC players. Overall, it was another intense chapter in the long-standing rivalry, known as one of the most storied in college basketball.
