£27m player wants to leave Tottenham, just a week after Postecoglou called him ‘outstanding’
However, TuttoMercatoWeb claim Lo Celso wants to leave.
Giovani Lo Celso wants to leave Tottenham and join Napoli
Nobody really expected Giovani Lo Celso to have a future at Tottenham this summer, but Ange Postecoglou gave him an opportunity in pre-season, and he took it.
The £27 million (BBC) midfielder played every game for Spurs in pre-season and managed to score a couple of goals as well.
He was even named in the squad when Tottenham took on Brentford in the Premier League last week, which suggests he is in the manager’s plans.
However, the report claims Napoli are keeping an eye on Lo Celso and Tottenham are ready to let him go – but only on a permanent deal.
It has further been claimed that the Argentine has a ‘strong’ desire to play for the champions of Italy, Napoli.
Ange Postecoglou praised him last week
It really did look like Lo Celso could revive his career at Tottenham following his performances in pre-season under Postecoglou.
Just last week, after Spurs suffered a defat against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, Postecoglou spoke to SpursPlay and claimed that Lo Celso and his two partners in midfield were ‘outstanding‘.
Estadio Deportivo claimed a little over two weeks ago that Postecoglou was even trying to convince Lo Celso to stay at Tottenham for the upcoming season.
There is still a decent chance that Lo Celso could end up staying at Spurs, but a move to Napoli wouldn’t be a bad option at all for him in the coming weeks.

Real Sociedad agree personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon
According Spanish journalists Oscar Mendez and Patxo De la Rica, La Liga side Real Sociedad have agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur outcast Sergio Reguilon in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Spanish fullback arrived in north London from Real Madrid in 2020 and despite early promise, failed to make himself a regular first-XI star at N17. In his three years in north London, Reguilon has made 67 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and assisting nine more.
The 26-year-old spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Atletico Madrid but failed to convince Digo Simeone to make the deal permanent. He is now back at Tottenham but does not appear to have a spot in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
With his standing at the club in question, a new challenge would be the best bet for the Spaniard. Real Sociedad are in the market for a new left-back and can offer him a way out of north London.
The Spaniards were eyeing a deal for Arsenal star Kieran Tierney but the Gunners now look set to retain the Scottish full-back following the injury to Jurrien Timber. This could see Sociedad turn their attention to Reguilon.
The full-back was left out of the club’s opener against Brentford and has two years left on his current deal. With Destiny Udogie impressing, one could argue that the Spaniard will struggle to break into the playing XI anytime soon.
The Txuri-Urdinak will benefit from Reguilon’s prior experience in the Spanish top flight. He had represented both Real Madrid and Sevilla before moving to Tottenham and was fairly comfortable in the role.
Reguilon is just 26 and remains a player in his prime. The move to Tottenham has not worked out, meaning a return to his roots could be the reset he needs to resurrect his flagging career. While the final decision does lie with Daniel Levy, a parting of the ways could be the right decision for all parties.
